Addendeum to April 2024's Undawntech: Technology That Is Stranger Than Fiction

Technology has become its own master over the human race in many ways. If you don't agree, would you give up your cellular phone, laptop/netbook, computer, online streaming services, video conferencing, GPS directions, the internet, and even or computer driven, water/plumbing and electricity? 

Most people would not elect to live in the 1800s. Yet, the everyday technology of combustion engines, telegraph/phones, plumbing, steam engines, and to some extent electricity are from this era. We are fed just enough technology to create a backdrop for politics, propaganda, and problem, reaction, solution (Hegelian Dialectic), but never enough technology to solve any pressing issues of disease, poverty, homelessness, or starvation.  

The war industry always seems to be on the upswing. Who would have thunk it? 

What does this information have to do with creative writing and the arts? Everything. If you as a person are being manipulated by technology, either by watching Pravda-style newscasts, Artificial Intelligence created visual effects, holograms, augmented reality in conjunction with social programming, social media, and social justice, then are you really creating from within, or regurgitating from without? 

If I had written this essay for Undawntech, then readers would be bored with being lectured instead of learning just how far technology has progressed without their knowledge, or dare I say: permission. 

Today, our world, no matter what country you reside in, is a dystopian nightmare on the verge of being the horror of Frankenstein 5.0. 

Plus, how can we have a frank discussion about technology and the arts, if you are unable to keep up with the conversation? The citations provided are to help facilitate individual curiosity and research.

When creative thinkers are knowledgeable about the world, then their works can influence positive change. We need more creative personalities to bridge the gap between knowledge and reality. Will that be you?

Technology should support our standard of living, boost life expectancy, cure our ills, and entertain us. Technology should never be used to undermine our fundamental values, rights, or individuality. We cannot have Innovative Creativity minus the understanding what the future now is.

We must be the masters of our world... one novel, poem, painting at a time.
